Smythe Park is a wetland oasis that is currently at risk.  It is home to many native and non-native  plant and animal species that are currently at risk due to illicit activities in the park such as the dumping of litter and other debris and vandalism.  The community is also at risk due to illicit activities that have been on the rise particularly in the last few years.  Families frequent this park to enjoy the pool, the playground, the splash pad and the amazing natural environment that this park has to offer however, there has been much concern from neighbours for the safety of our community and the environment. Most of the illicit activities are happening during the night and it is time to put an end to it!  We are asking that the park vehicle entrance be closed at the very least, at night, in order to maintain a certain level of safety and to protect the wildlife in the park (some of which have just been deemed endangered species).    Many parks in the GTA have vehicle access closed on weekends, at night or at all times.  Help us protect the safety of our neighbourhood and let's let Smythe Park thrive again by closing vehicle entrance to the park.
