Even after the July 4th holiday, we’re now at 340 signatures. Thank you! Your support is making it clear that Sunset Dunes is not yet safe for pedestrians.
I’ve uploaded photos I took during my walk on the west side on the evening of July 3, 2025 showing cyclists, and e-bike and a skateboarder using the west side of the path, the side that’s supposed to be slow and pedestrian-priority. There’s still only one sign at Lincoln and one at Sloat. There’s no safe way for pedestrians and disabled users to cross from the east side to the west side. The painted snail on the ground isn’t enough. People are riding fast through a space where kids, seniors, and walkers expect safety.
Our message remains the same:
✅ Prevent more injuries
✅ Create separate lanes for walkers and riders
✅ Temporarily restrict bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters until signage and safety measures are fully in place
Take the next step: Email the City
Let’s make our voices even louder.
📩 Please email Mayor Daniel Lurie (daniel.lurie@sfgov.org) and SF Rec & Park General Manager Phil Ginsburg (Phil.Ginsburg@sfgov.org) and let them know:
“As a supporter of the Sunset Dunes safety petition, I urge you to temporarily suspend bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters until proper signage and lane separation are in place. We need to prevent more injuries and keep this space safe for all pedestrians.”
Every email helps.
Let’s keep pushing for 500 signatures and real action.
