Castration is irreversible. This is why it is critical for doctors to inform women of the many life-long consequences of castration. Currently, the consequences of castration are not included in the hysterectomy patient information pamphlet that gynecologists give to women considering this surgery. It is critical that women be told the truth so 'informed consent' for castration can be given.
