Stop unlicenced driving instructors.

Stop unlicenced driving instructors.
The Issue
Too many learners are being ripped off by unlicensed driving instructors. These instructors take advantage of unsuspecting individuals by accepting cash payments, thereby avoiding taxes and national insurance contributions. This practice not only undermines the competitive market for legitimate, certified instructors but also puts learners at risk, both financially and in terms of their driving education quality.
Anyone learning to drive should feel confident that their instructor is fully qualified and licensed. Just as instructors are required to verify a learner’s licence, learners should have the right to verify an instructor's credentials. This is crucial for ensuring that learners receive legitimate instruction and are well-prepared to become safe drivers.
The problem extends beyond the immediate financial issues. Without qualified instruction, learners may not be adequately prepared for road safety, potentially leading to accidents and endangering public safety. Proper training from certified professionals is essential for cultivating responsible and skilled drivers, which ultimately benefits all road users.
Implementing a system where learners can easily verify an instructor's licence can safeguard against fraud and elevate the standard of driving education. Such measures could involve mandatory display of certification badges or a public database where learners could check instructor credentials before committing to lessons.
The time has come for change. To protect the interests of learners and uplift the standards of driving instruction, strict enforcement against unlicensed instructors should be prioritized. Support this cause by demanding a verified system for driving instruction that eliminates tax evasion and ensures every learner receives competent and licensed guidance.
Its time the DVSA and the POLICE get together and stop learner cars to check the instructor's detail and insurance.
The GMCA will hopefully be taking this further at the next meeting. Here is the reply them.
"Thank you for your recent correspondence in respect of unlicenced driving instructors.
Whilst the responsibility of licensing falls to the DVSA nationally, we will raise the matter with representatives of the GM Safer Roads Partnership and those working within wider transport policy for Greater Manchester for consideration.
Yours sincerely
