I have had many encounters with unleashed dogs whilst taking my dog on walks, only a few have been positive encounters. Today however ( 11/03/25) was probably the worst of them all. My dog a standard American bull dog cross English staff had her life threatened by an irresponsible dog owner. This man had 6 small dogs off leash that didn't have recall. My dog is still a learning puppy but is fully aware to sit or lay down when other dogs approach, he asked me to move my dog. In response I said I'm trying but she is still learning, maybe if your dogs don't have recall putting them on a leash would be safer. He then threatened to kill my dog because he was embarrassed he can't control his. Having all dogs on a lead in the UK would stop these awful comments and protect our dogs and stop the ban of "dangerous" dogs. No dog is dangerous only owners are dangerous. Not only all this bad owners created aggressive dogs that harm people especially children who don't know better and just want to play with the dogs, having dogs on leads also protects children from harm. It's not only large dogs that are an issue most small dogs are aggressive because people don't listen to the boundaries they show. Small dogs are the reason I have created this petition because many are off lead with little to no training. Large dogs 9/10 are trained because they are capable of further harm due to their size but these owners are responsible and understanding of this, therefore are more likely to train their dogs.
