Yet, now I'm faced with a six-month wait until a court date to bring him back home.

This isn't just about my pet; it's about a growing trend in the West Midlands where XL Bullies are being unfairly targeted and seized. These dogs are often part of families, providing companionship and emotional support. Being separated from their owners causes immense emotional distress to both parties. Moreover, these extended separations can disrupt the dog's social behavior and welfare.

Statistics from animal welfare organizations and legal studies have shown that breed-specific legislation, such as targeting XL Bullies, does not effectively reduce dog attacks. Instead, it only leads to the unnecessary suffering of dogs and the heartbreak of owners who lose their pets for months, or even forever, without justification.

Our goal is to urge the West Midlands police to review and change their policy regarding the seizure of dogs based on size and misperceptions. We need action to ensure that proper assessments are carried out, involving behavioral experts who can provide an accurate portrayal of any risk posed by the animal. This could prevent many dogs from being taken from their loving homes without due cause.
