STOP Unjustified Banning on Dating Apps—Bumble, Hinge, and Tinder
The Issue
I am a victim of an unreasonable ban on the popular dating apps – Bumble and Hinge. I have seen firsthand how "revenge reporting", where individuals report you out of spite, for minor reasons such as failure to respond to their messages, can result in a permanent ban with no recourse regardless of the innocence of the individual affected. Mandatory verification requirements of these reports are absent, and appeals fall on deaf ears. Such are the policies of Match Group (which owns Hinge and Tinder) and of Bumble.
The mental and emotional adversity faced by the people adversely affected is monumental. Unfair banning practices not only impact the social lives of many but also tamper with their mental health and generate feelings of isolation, despair and injustice. It is alarming to realize that there are COUNTLESS people out there who have shared similar experiences.
There is no doubt that to create a safe and pleasant space for users, dating apps must have mechanisms to deal with inappropriate behavior. What's worrying, however, is when innocent people fall victim due to flawed systems and processes.
This unethical practice by these leading dating apps must stop. For the sake of thousands, if not millions, who face unjust banning, we call on Match Group and Bumble to reassess their banning policies, to put in place effective measures against revenge reporting and wrongful banning, and to establish new provisions for the reconsideration of bans.
Stand with us against the unfair banning practices of these leading dating apps. Sign the petition NOW! If enough people sign this, we may also file a class action lawsuit together. Let's ensure that Bumble, Hinge, and Tinder evolve into even safer, fairer and more just platforms for all.
