As concerned citizens and direct victims of the recent actions taken by the Mayor and Vice Mayor regarding the Asheville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners (HACA), we are deeply troubled. They are relentlessly attempting to unjustly remove duly appointed board members without any given reason, effectively coercing them to resign. These underhanded tactics not only undermine the integrity of the board but also flagrantly disregard due process. This risks politicizing decisions that should solely focus on public housing oversight, in turn heavily impacting our community.

In essence, this behavior jeopardizes the democratic principles on which our governing bodies operate and creates uncertainty and instability for those dependent on public housing services. Due consideration and legal process must be respected in the removal of any board member - anything less is a gross injustice.

Through this petition, we call upon the concerned authorities and all like-minded citizens to resist these unwarranted actions. We demand the immediate halt of this unethical effort to remove HACA commissioners Tilman Jackson, Butch Robinson and Reggie Robinson without due process.
