Stop Unfair Parking Charges for Vehicles Parked Outside Homes in Residential Areas
We, the residents of Bengaluru, strongly object to the proposed ₹15,000–₹25,000 annual parking fee for vehicles parked on roads in front of residential homes.

For many middle-class families and tenants, parking a personal vehicle inside the premises is simply not possible. If a small car is parked outside the house on a residential road without obstructing traffic, pedestrians or other vehicles, charging such a high annual fee is unfair and disproportionate.

This will also severely affect Cab Drivers
Thousands of cab drivers own their vehicles on loans and already bear the burden of monthly EMIs, commercial vehicle taxes, insurance, fuel and vehicle maintenance costs. Adding another ₹15,000–₹25,000 every year simply for parking their vehicle outside their rented or owned home would put an unreasonable financial burden on people who depend on their cars for their livelihood.

Our Concerns
A blanket parking fee does not consider road width, traffic density or actual obstruction.
Residential roads should not be treated the same as congested commercial areas.
The proposed fee is disproportionately high for ordinary residents and working families.
For many small-car owners, the annual parking fee could even exceed their annual vehicle insurance cost.
Cab drivers, in particular, are already paying multiple vehicle-related costs and should not be penalised further for parking at their residence.
Our Demand
We request the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) and Government of Karnataka to withdraw the proposed parking charges for non-obstructive parking on residential roads.

If parking regulation is necessary, it should be based on road width, traffic movement, congestion and actual obstruction caused, rather than imposing a blanket annual fee on residents.
