I am a distressed pet lover who has experienced a heart-breaking situation due to the inadequacies of a supposed animal rescue organization. I attempted to adopt a senior dog, hoping to give it a place of love and care in its twilight years. However, because of the incompetence of the rescue, my recent new family member fled and has been missing for 3 months. With no help from the rescue to find him, they only have turned against me and threatened to take down the lost dog flyers my team put up. The anguish of losing this beloved senior is only amplified by the chilling awareness of what other pets are still experiencing. Many more dogs are imprisoned in boarding facilities in cages, fosters not being taken care of and some at a horrifying risk of being euthanized — all in the name of profit.

(this is not the first dog to flee after transport either, at least 2 others have, 1 was found but sent back to boarding and the other is also still missing since January) 

Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. There have been multiple reports of unethical conduct by certain animal rescues across the country, where the welfare of animals is overlooked in favor of profit margin. A study from the Animal Welfare Institute reveals that an estimated 10% of animal rescues engage in unethical practices such as hoarding, over-breeding, or failure to provide adequate care to animals in their facilities (Animal Welfare Institute, 2018).

It's clear that more strict regulations and monitoring are needed to ensure the welfare of rescued animals. Our petition aims to call upon the involvement of local and national government bodies, urging them to take action against these deplorable practices.
