The Issue

Stop UK Supermarkets from Supporting Illegal Israeli Settlements

Many products sold in UK supermarkets come from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories—areas condemned by international law. These settlements contribute to ongoing human rights abuses against Palestinians.

We’re calling on major UK supermarkets — Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Tesco, and Morrisons — to take immediate action.

At a time when human rights, justice, and accountability are under global scrutiny, neutrality is not an option. Businesses must take a stand. The Co-op has shown leadership by halting trade with companies complicit in human rights violations, and I am urging other supermarkets to follow suit.

Under international law, these settlements are considered illegal, and trading with entities that operate within them contributes to the ongoing oppression and displacement of the Palestinian people. Continuing to profit from such arrangements not only undermines international justice but also compromises the ethical values their store brands claim to uphold.

Their stated values — such as "ethical sourcing", "fair trade", "integrity", or "community care"— ring hollow if they are not upheld in critical moments such as this.

As a customer, I wish to shop with a clear conscience, and urgently request that UK supermarkets

  • Cease all sales of products originating from illegal Israeli settlements and from companies complicit in occupation and apartheid.
  • Conduct a transparent and thorough review of their supply chains to ensure compliance with international law and ethical standards.
  • Clearly label the country of origin on all relevant products to allow consumers to make informed choices

Your signature sends a powerful message: UK shoppers want ethical sourcing and stand against injustice.

Join us in demanding supermarkets put human rights before profits.
