STOP Uber unfair cancellation fees

The Issue

I reserved an Uber ride for a friend from Heathrow T2 to Bath Road, and was informed that they had 45 minutes to clear Border Control before the driver arrived at the pick-up point. The flight was delayed and Uber was kept informed via whatever system they employ. In any case, I informed the driver that he was delayed at Border control, he never responded.  Later, the app asked to choose a pick-up location which I did. My friend cleared Border Control and Baggage claim with time to spare then suddenly, I get a notification saying that Uber has cancelled the ride. I informed Uber Support and they refused to refund me.

I am making this petition to have the Trading Standards, Department of Business and Trade, and the Department of Transport and, TFL look into this growing practice as it is unfair and borders on fraud. I am not the only person affected. You can find hundreds of customers reporting the same on Trustpilot.  Uber makes unfair money by cancelling rides and having the drivers move on to the next job. If a customer is in contact and making every effort to meet the driver then Uber should never cancel a ride. Drivers should be able to locate streets and roads to be efficient in their jobs. Black cab drivers are required to learn and know offhand 2000+ streets/roads. Uber is reducing the high and efficient standard required by TFL to run a transportation service. 

 

UPDATE: Uber has issued me a full refund but I... we can not in good conscience let them continue this practice of charging their customers these excessive fees for fault of theirs.
