The Issue

Animals are not for us to torture and experiment on. However, UACJ is currently using rescued animals from DABA for experiments, and many of these innocent creatures are being killed in the process. Over 300 animals have reportedly lost their lives at the hands of the university's labs. This is deeply troubling news, particularly because DABA is supposed to be a sanctuary, a place of peace and refuge for animals. Unfortunately, under the direction of Alma Arredondo, it has turned into a center reminiscent of a slaughterhouse.

The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) has the responsibility to educate future generations with compassion and respect for life. Engaging in cruel and lethal experiments on animals is not justifiable under any circumstance. If UACJ is committed to the values of education and progress, then it's imperative they adopt more humane research practices.

Globally, institutions are moving towards alternative methods that do not involve animal suffering, such as computer modeling, in vitro testing, and using human cell cultures. Why not UACJ? These methods are modern, ethical, and often even more reliable. It’s crucial that the university aligns with these global standards, ensuring that no more animals have to endure agonizing experiments for the sake of education.

Join us in demanding UACJ to cease all harmful animal testing immediately. We implore the authorities to transition towards non-animal teaching methods and research practices. It’s time for UACJ to lead by example and take a stand against animal cruelty.

Sign this petition to urge UACJ to change its practices and safeguard animal lives through compassionate education.
