The Issue

Throughout my life, I've cherished the values and symbols that define our nation. These symbols, ranging from the Bill of Rights to our currency, stand as pillars of our democracy and heritage. Today, however, we learn that our government sycophants wants to continue degrading our traditions by including Donald Trump's signature on our currency. Though we must accept the results of the election, Trump's tenure in office has been notably divisive. His inclination to emblazon his name across anything within reach is not a celebration of our country; it is rather a blatant attempt to elevate personal status over national values.

Read about it here.

Historically, our currency has been more than just a means of transaction. It serves as a reflection of our shared history and common purpose. Adding Trump's signature would distort this purpose, transforming our currency into a tool to further a personal cult rather than exemplifying the collective spirit of the United States. Past presidents, regardless of their popularity, have left their mark through policies and principles, not personal branding. This set a precedent that Trump’s proposal seems to overturn, thereby mocking the traditions we've held dear for centuries.

As citizens, we must strive to protect these traditions and ensure that the visuals on our currency remain neutral and representative of our democratic ethos. The currency we pass on to future generations should tell stories of our nation's perseverance and principles, not serve as a platform for advancing individualism and division. While some may see this as a minor issue in contrast to larger national debates, the implications are significant. Our currency is a daily instrument that touches countless lives, and altering its symbolism for personal aggrandizement sends a concerning message about whose interests it truly serves.

I implore fellow citizens and leaders within our government to prevent this unnecessary overreach into our national heritage. We need to maintain what’s left of the integrity of our currency by ensuring it reflects at least a modicum of the values we collectively uphold instead of the whims of one individual. Stand with me to preserve the dignity of our national symbols and protect them from becoming tools of divisiveness. Sign this petition to stop Trump’s signature from appearing on our currency, and let us safeguard what makes our nation truly great.
