The Issue

I woke up angry and upset thinking about our nation's home, the White House. It should be personal to all of us as it represents the heart of our democracy, a symbol of our country's values and history. But currently, it feels like our house is being treated like a palace for royalty rather than a democratic institution for the people. A tenant should not be allowed to make such monumental changes with no approval of the people.

Reports of adding a huge ballroom, excessive renovations and lavish modifications have surfaced, sparking concern that the White House is turning into Trump's personal Versailles. In a democracy, the President is a temporary guest, not a king. This house belongs to us, the American people, and should reflect our collective values rather than individual grandeur.

The White House stands as a testament to the principles of democracy, equality, and public service. It should not be transformed into a symbol of opulence that contradicts these principles. We must preserve the integrity of this important national symbol by maintaining it as a place rooted in the ethos of serving the people, not displaying power and wealth.

Our concern is not about neglecting renovations but about ensuring they are necessary and respecting the building’s symbolic significance. The focus should remain on preserving its historical legacy rather than indulging in personal taste and luxury.

Let us raise our voices and call on the responsible authorities to halt these unnecessary extravagant renovations. The White House is a beacon of democracy, and it should remain as such. Stand with me to protect the integrity of our nation's most historic building.

Sign the petition to object the transformation of the White House into a palace and remind our leaders that it is not a monarchy we serve, but a democracy.
