Laws should be applied fairly and consistently.
A request to the Pierce County District Court revealed that there were 1,177 infractions issued by the city in 2024 that are marked as "BALANCE DUE". What that means is that they were never responded to or they were never received.
There were 697 additional infractions dismissed because the owner filled out an affidavit stating it wasn't them.
The city issued 4,910 total infractions in 2024. So 38% were never paid.

You might want to email or call the mayor and council and ask why you should pay them $166 for driving 24 or 25 mph past a school when the kids are sitting behind their desks.
If they did stop doing that there wouldn't be enough money to pay the camera company. They lost $46,000 running the cameras at Edgemont in 2024.
You might even want to ask them why only Edgewood is using cameras while there doesn't seem to be any problem anywhere else in the Puyallup School District.
