Stop toy makers from putting squeakers in dogs' toys

The Issue

Today, we face a heart-rending reality: the loss of our beloved dog, Chunks, at just 2 years and 11 months old. In August, Chunks swallowed a squeaker, leading to a distressing 7-week ordeal for both him and us, as veterinarians struggled to diagnose the problem. Though he valiantly survived the surgery to remove it, the experience was traumatic and life-altering, damaging his intestines beyond full recovery.

Despite taking precautions by removing all toys with squeakers, Chunks, in his adorable persistence, must have hidden one away. Just three months later, he swallowed another squeaker. Initially, we thought he had swallowed a sock, because we were certain no squeakers were present. Tragically, the consequences this time were devastating.

we haven’t only lost of baby we have now been left with 2 huge vet bills, 1 I need pay off before I get my boy home.

Our painful loss could have been avoided if toy manufacturers prioritized the safety of our furry family members. Unlike humans, dogs do not know how to differentiate hazardous objects from safe ones. Toys are meant to bring joy and fun, not pose a lethal risk. That is why we urgently call on toy makers to stop including squeakers in dog toys.

To the pet product industry: it is imperative to rethink the design of dog toys and ensure they are safe and non-toxic. Companies should pursue alternative designs that maintain a toy's appeal without compromising safety. This issue affects countless pet owners who unknowingly expose their animals to hidden dangers within common toys.

By addressing this concern, we can prevent tragic incidents and needless suffering. Join us in urging toy manufacturers to eliminate squeakers from their designs and create a safer world for our pets. Let's protect dogs like Chunks and ensure our companions live longer, healthier lives.

Please sign this petition to push for immediate action against the unnecessary risk posed by squeakers in dog toys. Together, we can make a difference and save precious lives.
