Dear Friends:
We had a huge amount of supporters who came out to the Public Hearing on Tuesday night to protest outside of City Hall, watch the proceedings as they unfolded, and wait to speak in front of Council. The Hearing lasted until 11:00 pm. It was a long night, and we are so grateful for the incredible show of support!

There is still a long list of people registered to speak (most of whom support the hospice!), so the Hearing has now been reconvened to tonight (Thurs, June 13) starting at 6:00 pm.
 
The first speakers will be our Board Chair, Stephen Roberts & our Executive Director, Simin Tabrizi. This will be important to watch, as they will highlight the key messages we want to send to Council prior to the vote!

They are still accepting online registrations for speakers until 5:00 pm today. If you would like to speak out against this rezoning, you can Register Here, or email publichearing@vancouver.ca
 
You can also register in person at City Hall between 5:30 & 6:00 pm today. The Mayor will also ask if anyone who has not registered would like to speak - at the end of the proceedings.

If you are speaking, be prepared for a long night. You may want to bring snacks & water. Also be prepared for the Hearing to be extended to an additional day (which will be determined by Council at the end of the meeting). This is an issue that many people feel strongly about; and the growing list of speakers reflects that!
