Stop Town of Huntington paving our community triangle
The Issue
Green space on Laurel Hill rd. & Sandy Hollow Rd Intersection in Centerport, NY.
It's heartbreaking to see one of the few cherished public spaces in our community under threat. The small triangle at the intersection in our neighborhood has been more than just a mound of dirt. It's where neighbors have poured countless hours and resources to enhance our community's beauty and natural environment- planting an array of flowers, tended to them through various seasons, and turned this space into a welcoming sport for all driving or walking by.
However, the Town of Huntington has decided to pave over this triangle, removing all of the plantings without even notifying the neighborhood. This decision not only obliterates the hard work and dedication of our community but also erases a space that has become a symbol of shared pride and unity.
It's a space that embodies our joint effort to create a welcoming community atmosphere, making Huntington not just a place to live, but a home.
We ask the Town of Huntington to reconsider this plan and explore alternatives that respect the investments made by the community. Simple changes or street adjustments can be discussed and agreed upon that preserve the green space while addressing any safety concerns.
Let's stand together and urge the decision-makers to halt this action. Help us show that our community spirit and hard work should not be overridden without dialogue or consideration. Sign our petition to stop the paving of our community triangle and to protect the heart of our neighborhood.
