Stop TikTok from Issuing Strikes for Draft Videos and Demand Pre-Publication Review Tools

Das Problem

I encountered this issue personally when I uploaded a video to my TikTok account and saved it only as a draft. Within minutes, I received a violation notice and a strike against my account. The video was never published publicly, and I had no opportunity to review or fix anything before being penalized.

This situation is not only frustrating — it's structurally unfair. TikTok does not provide any tools to check whether a video complies with the Community Guidelines before publishing. There is no pre-check system like on YouTube, and users receive no warning or contextual explanation.

Receiving a strike for content that was never visible to the public goes against basic principles of fairness and proportionality. Worse, repeated strikes can lead to permanent account bans — all without giving the user a chance to act in good faith or learn from the process.

As a content creator who respects platform rules, I believe moderation should be transparent, proportional, and consistent with the principles set out in the EU Digital Services Act (DSA). Penalizing private draft content with no context or appeal mechanism does not meet that standard.

That is why I’m launching this petition — not only for myself, but for every TikTok user who has faced similar treatment, and for the future of safe, fair digital creativity.
