Demand Diana Carpio to Resign from Norwalk BOE
In the vibrant community of Norwalk, CT, where education is a cornerstone for our future, trust and transparency are paramount. I am a taxpayer and a parent of a child in the Norwalk Public Schools (NPS) system. When I cast my vote for Diana Carpio, I believed I was supporting a leader who would uphold these values. However, recent events have called that trust into question.
Diana Carpio, as the Chair of the Board of Education (BOE), was entrusted with the crucial role of overseeing our educational policies and representing the interests of our families and children. It has come to light that she altered an official document after it was unanimously approved by the board members on Tuesday, June 10. This action occurred following a discussion with Superintendent Alexandra Estrella, where she allegedly modified the document to align with Estrella’s agenda.
Such manipulation betray the public trust and compromise the integrity of our educational system. When leaders act in deceitful ways, it undermines the very fabric of the educational governance and sets a poor example for our children. A board that is supposed to act in transparency and honesty must be held accountable when its leaders fall short.
Diana Carpio's decision to alter an approved document not only disrespects the decision of the board members, who voted 9-0 in favor of the original document, but also reveals a willingness to cater to interests that may not represent the best intentions for our children's education. This is unacceptable and does not afford her the privilege to continue in her role.
We demand Diana Carpio step down both as the Chair and member of the Norwalk Board of Education. We need leaders who will act in honesty and integrity, and if Diana Carpio cannot embody these qualities, then she must resign to preserve the integrity of our board for the sake of our children’s futures and the trust of the Norwalk community. Her resignation is imperative for restoring faith in our education system and ensuring that decisions are made transparently and in the best interests of our children. Let us stand together to safeguard our schools and demand the leadership that our community deserves.
Join me in calling for Diana Carpio's resignation to ensure the integrity, transparency, and trust that our education system relies on. Please sign this petition if you believe in these values for our children and community.
