The Issue

I am Planning a protest.Date/time to follow. We need signs and hundreds of cars driving in/out of Carnation Dr and Main St.( behind Luekens)for visual effect!! WRONG LOCATION, WRONG SITE, AND WRONG DEVELOPER. (🤮he is “COOKIE CUTTING & OVER DEVELOPING Dunedin). A 3 story, 78-unit apt. complex @ 1422 Carnation Dr. (off Main st.) in Dunedin, Fl. The PARCEL IS TOO SMALL, HAS ONLY ONE NARROW ACCESS ROAD, PROVIDES MINIMAL PARKING & ISN‘T DESIGNED FOR A DEVELOPMENT THAT COULD ADD 228 PEOPLE TO DUNEDIN. Downtown Dunedin Is a small town away from the hustle and bustle of larger cities like Clearwater, Tampa and St. Petersburg. This is why it deeply concerns me to learn about the proposed development of a 3 story “low-income” housing project (only 18 units will be “somewhat” affordable) right in the heart of Dunedin. While I agree with affordable housing, THE STREETS HERE ARE SIMPLY NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE THE INCREASED TRAFFIC & LACK OF PARKING SPACE THAT WOULD ACCOMPANY A LARGE HOUSING COMPLEX. Dunedin's CURRENT INFRASTRUCTURE will not accommodate this development. It would OVERCROWD the area & STRAIN LOCAL RESOURCES such as parks, schools, and public utilities that are NOT DESIGNED for a significant population increase.

There are more suitable locations in Dunedin & nearby cities like Clearwater, Tampa or St. Pete where such developments would be better accommodated without compromising the integrity of downtown Dunedin.

Our town’s essence is at stake, and WE MUST ACT NOW to preserve the character and MANAGE THE GROWTH of Dunedin, sensibly. BTW, Luekens is busy and adding 228 additional people trying to enter/exit from that narrow single road will be impossible.
