This petition is driven by a personal concern. As someone who spends time on social media every day, I am sick and tired of being constantly confronted with cruel animal cruelty. These videos, often taken by amateur filmmakers, show Komodo dragons, hyenas and other predators cruelly killing other animals. Facebook, a platform that relentlessly pursues copyright infringements, seems to ignore this cruelty to animals. Reporting these videos does not lead to their removal, let alone sanctions against the posters. 

This double standard is absurd. Users should not be punished for making a snarky comment or posting copyrighted content while videos of animal cruelty go unpunished. We therefore call on Facebook to revise their community guidelines and introduce tough penalties for posting animal cruelty.

Facebook has over 2.8 billion active users per month (Statista, 2021). With such a huge user base comes a huge responsibility. It's high time Facebook took this responsibility seriously and took action to protect innocent animals. Sign this petition now to get Facebook to ban cruel animal videos for good.
