Stop the Yonder Corporation Rezoning of residential property.

This petition is against the initial presented proposal by Yonder Corporation at the Townsend Planning Commission on 4/13/2022.
The next Planning Commission meeting will be held June 22nd @ 6:00 PM
Yonder Corporation seeks to rezone two 4.5 acre lots adjacent to Old Tuckaleechee Road from Low Density R1 Zoning to Commercial B1 Zoning. This will allow them to construct 130 cabins, 40 RV sites, staff housing/apartment building, along with many other structures as noted in their prior proposal presented. We feel very strongly that this will completely disrupt the “peaceful side” of the Smokies. This will contradict what locals and newcomers have fought so hard to maintain for many decades. This should be ruled out and not considered by any of the commissioners who were elected by the people of this community. It will not only create a nuisance to the community as a whole, or simply congest the area but it will flat out destroy homes for numerous wildlife that are struggling to stay in our area. This will also increase the potential for an increased rate of crime. The local municipalities such as our police and fire departments do not have the capacity, nor funding, to handle a development of this size. There are numerous other factors to consider: excess trash, abused public locations, potential resource limitations. The people of this community do not want their quality of life to be disrupted by this nuisance, including but not limited to the several factors listed above. It is highly suggested that this proposal is met with a unanimous vote for “NO”. We the people of Townsend, Tennessee have spoken via our signatures.
