A new BBC report today (16 April) has confirmed another stabbing in Leicester city centre, adding to the growing list of violent incidents that residents, workers, and businesses have been warning about for months.
According to the report, a man in his 20s was stabbed near the city centre and taken to hospital with serious injuries. Police have launched an investigation, but once again the incident happened in a busy public area where thousands of people pass through daily.
This latest attack reinforces what our community has been saying repeatedly:
- Violent crime in Leicester city centre is now frequent, not isolated.
- Police presence is inconsistent and often reactive rather than preventative.
- Drug‑related activity and knife crime continue to escalate despite repeated warnings from businesses, residents, and local organisations.
Our city centre cannot continue like this. People who work here, study here, run businesses here, or simply walk through the area should not have to live with constant fear and uncertainty.
