The Issue

My family is from Sudan, I have friends from Sudan, a nation currently engulfed in a relentless war that began in 2023 following the fall of Omar El-Bashir. This conflict has taken a devastating toll on my family, friends, and myself. Many of my family members have been killed, displaced, or are still missing, a common story among Sudanese. We are living with unbearable grief and uncertainty every day. These are not just personal tragedies; they are a shared burden for countless Sudanese families who find themselves in similar situations.

The conflict in Sudan is characterized by reports of heinous war crimes. Yet, despite the gravity of these crimes, international investigations have been slow or non-existent. Around the world, we witness similar atrocities and observe an alarming pattern of inaction. History must not repeat itself; we cannot allow these crimes to go unpunished and let justice slip from our grasp.

Accountability is a universal right. Crimes against humanity demand a global response. The people of Sudan have suffered for too long while the world remains silent. We call upon the international community to take decisive action now.

We are urging organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), the United Nations Human Rights Council, and other human rights institutions to initiate immediate and thorough investigations into the war crimes in Sudan. They must work collaboratively to bring those responsible to justice and prevent further suffering.

According to reports from Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, this conflict has seen countless violations of international law. These include indiscriminate attacks on civilians, mass graves, mass incinerations, forced child soldiers, sexual violence, kidnappings, and destruction of property and livelihood. These crimes are meticulously documented, yet they remain largely unaddressed.
