Stop the VA From Violating Our Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights

Stop the VA From Violating Our Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights
The Issue
The Dept. of Veterans Affairs (VA) is violating hundreds of thousands of veterans’ 2nd Amendment rights without any due process or oversight – and no one seems to know it’s happening.
This issue is personal to me. I am a 17-year Marine Corp veteran who served in Afghanistan. I also struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) like thousands of other veterans. I have friends who fought overseas only to find out their 2nd Amendment rights were taken away here at home. As a law-abiding, responsible gun owner, I’m afraid it could happen to me.
Veterans should be able to get the help they need from the VA without fearing that their constitutional right to own a gun could be unilaterally and unnecessarily taken away.
No veteran who has bravely served and sacrificed for our country should fear having their constitutional rights put in jeopardy without due process.. No veteran should be afraid to seek mental or medical care for fear they will be banned from protecting themself.
Veterans deserve the same due process as every American.
Fortunately, there’s a solution. The Veterans 2nd Amendment Protection Act strengthens due process and requires the VA to receive a judicial ruling before they can take steps to prevent a veteran from carrying a gun. It would also restore the rights of hundreds of thousands of veterans who have already become victims of this injustice.
The bill recently passed out of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. We are now calling on Congress to pass the bill. It has many opponents. They need to hear from us NOW. If we say nothing, it may never make it to President Trump’s desk to become law.
Whether you are a veteran or a concerned American, sign our petition to strengthen due process, stop the VA from taking away veterans’ 2nd Amendment rights, and treat those who put their lives on the line to defend our country fairly!
