Stop the use of Opioids

Stop the use of Opioids
The Issue
Imagine dying because of a drug, that’s the horrifying truth that we face today, that’s why we need your help. There are currently bills S.161 and H.3860 that are trying to be passed to help with the opioid epidemic and addiction, we need these bills to pass as soon as possible.
The opioid epidemic kills around two-thousand people every year, and that’s Just in Greenville County, South Carolina. The opioid overdose rates have been going down, but there’s still too many people out there facing the consequences of overdosing. The main cause of the overdoses is doctors, they are over prescribing opioids, and causing more and more people to get addicted, and eventually die. So we need to put a stop to this, and help prevent people dying and getting addicted.
Every day, doctors and pharmacists are over prescribing opioids, causing more and more people to lose their life. Just imagine losing someone you love due to a doctor, and this actually happens every single day. While there are medicines to help with the consequences of overdosing, not all doctors carry these around. H.3860 would require all first responders in South Carolina to carry around an overdose saving antidote. This antidote would carry a medication called naloxone which can save lives when it matters most. This would save many lives and the numbers of deaths by overdosing would go down day by day.
We need your help in stopping the addiction of opioids. You could possibly save a life by doing your part to help pass the bill S.161. S.161 would stop the favoring of opioid insurance companies from recommending opioids, require doctors to inform their patients about opioids before prescribing them, and educate people through a pamphlet about the effects of opioids. So we need your help with this and preventing the addiction of opioids. If you sign this petition then you will be saving a life! After signing, it would really help if you shared this petition with others or reached out to your SC state representative and got more support for passing these bills! Let’s help make Greenville a better place, this is just a small step into something way bigger!
