The reason I want to set up this petition is to stop glass cups and bottles being served in pubs/nightclubs.

Last Saturday morning (8th February) at around 3:50am my cousin Joe Robotham, 23 years of age was struck in the back of the head with a glass bottle outside a nightclub in Chesterfield town centre, this sadly resulted in him passing away the following night at 11:30pm. This was a shocking and unforgivable crime, he was such a genuine and lovely lad, he had served in the armed forces and had his whole life ahead of him. Our family has been ripped apart and will never be the same again. We want to prevent families going through similar situations and we think removing glass is a start. Changes need to happen, not just in chesterfield but the whole of the UK.

Plastic cups and bottles need to be used in pubs and nightclubs as far too many people are being hurt or killed. My family will never get over this tragedy but hopefully we can try to change the law on this and save other families the heartache it has caused to mine.
