Hi Everyone,

I have created a petition to fight against the act of racism intentionally or not.
I’m applaud that this has gone on for sometime and nobody is standing up against this level of ignorance.

“The origins of monkey pox may have come from Africa and passed on from Monkeys to Africans. Black people and those of Pasifika background have always been referred to as monkey’s it is a racial slur, so this term for this virus is deemed racist, it may have not been intentional but it’s a problem.

My pled is very short and simple and to the point, please sign and share this petition and let’s fight together to erase this racist medical term and regardless it was called monkey pox from the 50s, that alone proves how racist this term and proves even more how black people in general are constantly under valued and the other fact being it was named by white medical professionals from the 50s!

END THIS RACIST MEDICAL TERM!”

I’ve also sent an email to the Chief Health Minister Brett Sutton.
