The Namibian Government has recently approved the slaughter of 86,000 seals.

This is a barely disguised mass hunt for seal products masquerading as “oh we’re killing them to increase fish stock.”

Out all the ways you can actually go about increasing fish stock and out of all the animals in the ocean. Choosing seals makes ZERO logical sense.

Everything we have done to our oceans, we are literally just shifting the blame to seals. I’m talking about mass overfishing, polluting our oceans, and killing our coral reefs and natural ecosystems. Humans are the cause. Not seals. It never was.

And it seems they are only concerned with making a profit off of this calling it a “Harvest”. No. You are blaming one animal for what MOSTLY HUMANS have done and there are literally billions of different kinds of animals and even HUGE ANIMALS eating fish besides seals. But a fishing boat takes 1000x more fish than a whale. All while doing damage at the same time.

The heart of the problem they are “trying” to solve is overfishing. Not only are humans taking all the fish but are taking away the natural predators of seals and other animals. So we cause over population too.

But why blame seals? Why the seals? Is it a cry for help, Namibian Government? Or are you just here to pick on and take from the weak. I would not trust any kind of government that does this and people with the will to fight it can fight for the people. If the Namibian Government is taking advantage of seals like this, it will do the same to its people. There are other ways to go about increasing fish stock rather than blaming ONE animal out of a bunch of animals in the ocean.

This is not only an issue regarding seals but a misuse of government power. This is an issue for the people, animals, and environment aswell. For the government to actually protect them. And not take advantage of and destroy them.
