Stop the Unnecessary Use of Pesticides and Chemicals on Local Walkways and Wildlife Areas

The Issue

Can I just start by saying this has been produced because I’ve been told twice lately, Oh, don’t worry it’s like what they spray on your food….? What???
So that’s your reason for using Pesticides to weed a path??? I’ll rake it myself and weed it if that’s what it takes…

At first I was baffled as to why our local grounds maintenance team would use pesticides to clear up a path and then after hearing that, I’m just angry and upset. So close to everyone’s houses too!

I have to spend an absolute fortune on a weekly basis buying organic and checking labels to try and limit as much nasty chemicals as I can reaching my kids stomachs and organs! Now it has been brought to my attention that I have to now worry about my children on a walk?

When I grew up, playing in the soil/mud was actually good for us and helped build an immune system along with lots of other things! Kids nowadays, including mine, don’t stand a chance if they play in their natural surroundings because of the amount of manmade poison that’s hidden everywhere. It scares the hell out of me!

My twins are starting to walk and explore the world around them, an adventure that shouldn't be fraught with danger due to the presence of hazard chemicals. Our neighbourhood, supposedly designed for family life and outdoor walks that won’t harm our pets, and appreciation for nature, should not become a sphere of health concern. Going for walks, a simple activity in front of our house, should not put my children at risk of exposure to harmful chemicals.

Additionally, our area is home to an enriching variety of wildlife, including deer, birds, squirrels and much more. These animals, integral to our local ecosystem, are endangered by the use of pesticides and chemicals in their habitats. Scientists affirm that pesticides can cause significant harm to wildlife, from physical ailments to reproduction disruption, consequently rippling effects across the food-chain and the balance of our natural ecosystem.

In the interest of our children's health, the wildlife preservation, and the integrity of our local environment, we implore you to stop the use of pesticides and chemicals on all walkways and wildlife areas near our homes. With what’s going on in the world around us, this is more important than ever!!! I’m fed up of worrying for my kids future…. And even ours!
