The Issue

As a passionate hunter and fisherman, I am deeply concerned about the current actions being taken by the Missouri Department of Conservation to control what they term "Chronic Wasting Disease" (CWD) among our deer population. This issue is not just a policy concern but a personal one that affects my family and me significantly. Hunting and fishing are not just hobbies; they are traditions and essential ways of life that connect us to nature, to each other, and to our community. Watching the deer population, which is already in decline, being culled so drastically is heartbreaking.

For years, generations of hunters have relied on deer hunting as a source of sustenance, recreation, and tradition. This makes the senseless culling of thousands of deer not only an ecological issue but also a breach of the legacy we've worked hard to preserve. Deer meat is being wasted rather than being utilized for food, which goes against the principles of ethical hunting and conservation.

We need to explore these alternative methods rather than continuing the senseless slaughter which threatens our deer heritage. I call on the Missouri Department of Conservation to suspend their current culling campaigns and engage in thoughtful dialogue with the hunting community. By working together, we can develop a plan that preserves both our natural resources and our cultural traditions.

Please sign this petition to urge the Missouri Department of Conservation to stop the unnecessary killing of our deer and consider more sustainable and ethical solutions to manage CWD, ensuring that future generations can continue to cherish the land and wildlife that mean so much to us all. Your support is essential in changing the course of action and safeguarding Missouri's deer for years to come.
