Stop the Unnecessary Euthanasia of Healthy, Adoptable Pets

Stop the Unnecessary Euthanasia of Healthy, Adoptable Pets
The Issue
As an animal lover from Indio, CA, it deeply upsets me to see the unnecessary killing of healthy, adoptable pets in our shelters. Beautiful bundles of joy are losing their lives merely for space. It is an unfathomable solution that only simplifies the jobs of those involved, but takes innocent lives in the process.
Every year, approximately 2.6 million dogs and cats are killed in U.S. shelters - a staggering figure that should not be considered acceptable (Source: Humane Society of United States). Shelters should exist to rehome these innocent animals, not end their lives prematurely.
We need a reformed system that supports life and promotes adoption rather than resorting to the inhumane, easy way out. This could include initiatives for spay/neuter, constructive partnerships with rescue and foster organizations, comprehensive adoption programs, pet retention support, and more. It's time for the city of Indio, CA, to reflect on its practices and commit to change.
Please stand with us to seek justice for these vulnerable animals. Together, we have the ability to enact change and establish a safer, more humane environment for pets within our shelters. Sign the petition to help us make a difference.
