Stop the Unlawful Killing of Dogs by Law Enforcement

Stop the Unlawful Killing of Dogs by Law Enforcement
The Issue
On April 16th, 2024, Los Angeles Sheriff Department executed a family service dog when they illegally and unlawfully entered the subject property.
The unsuspecting pooch was in his own home, when officers, absent a search warrant, entered the home and fired a suspected three rounds to his upper extremities. The pet sustained two gunshot wounds to the face and one to the right shoulder blade.
The owners of the subject property had informed law enforcement that they intended to secure the dog for the safety of officers, and their pet, being that they were unaware how the pet would react to multiple strangers "storming" the home. Officers agreed to await the arrival of the owners, as they also were awaiting a judicial officer signing the search warrant.
Upon arrival to the property, the owners were met with a horrifying scene. Officers had illegally entered the home, an hour prior to the execution of a warrant, and executed the dog.
Had officers not entered the property absent a warrant, this tragedy could have been avoided as the owners would have been able to secure the animal in a timely manner.
Not only are dogs a man's best friend, but they are territorial by nature, and many of us see our dog as a security system as sorts. Even had the officers been met with aggression by the dog, they entered a confined space with him, willingly, and knowingly, even with the knowledge that a danger may exist and again ABSENT A SEARCH WARRANT.
A young man is now absent his service animal and a family is in mourning, due to the senseless negligence of Law Enforcement officers who broke the laws which we tax paying citizens pay them to uphold.
Officers must be held accountable for violations of the law, in the same manner that regular citizens are held accountable for such.
Please show love and support toward this young man and his family, in order that they not feel so alone through this trying time.
