My faithful companion, my dog, is facing an untimely death sentence. As someone who is disabled and relying on social security, my world has crumbled with this news. My dog was not just a pet; he was my life, my guardian, and my beacon of hope, especially during my darkest days. Escaping the shackles of domestic abuse, it was my dog who stood by me, offering protection and unconditional love.

I managed to break free and start afresh, but unfortunately, the shadows of the past loomed again. My dog, in his protective nature, was harmed by others, trying to hurt us. Their cruelty knows no bounds, and today, the system seems to have turned its back. My loyal dog, who was only defending me, was locked up and is now sentenced to be put down by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office based on unsubstantiated claims.

The alarming pattern of abusers targeting the defenseless is unsettling. When an animal, out of sheer instinct and loyalty, reacts to harm, they shouldn’t be punished for defending their family. My dog is scheduled to be euthanized on May 23, 2025, at 4 pm. This heartbreaking decision is not just an act against an innocent being but a blow to justice and compassion.
