Stop the Tungkillo Hyperscale Data Centre
The issue
TO: The State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) and the South Australian Minister for Planning.
We, the undersigned residents, primary producers, and community members of Tungkillo and the surrounding Adelaide Hills / Mid Murray regions (spanning a 17km+ impact radius including Birdwood, Gumeracha, Mount Torrens, and Palmer), formally lodge our objection to Quantum DC's proposed 1.2 GW Tier IV Tungkillo Compute & Energy Hub.
We petition the State Government to halt or refuse approval based on the following critical regional threats:
• Macro-Regional Water Depletion: The undisclosed total annual water usage poses an unacceptable risk to our shared unconfined aquifers and local farming bores, especially during severe drought and extreme heatwaves.
• Grid Exploitation & Energy Influx: The unprecedented 1.2 GW power demand is driving a massive influx of speculative battery farms across primary production land, threatening grid stability and regional wholesale power pricing.
• Erosion of Dark Sky Reserve: Cumulative light pollution and 24/7 facility glow threaten the neighboring River Murray International Dark Sky Reserve, local biodiversity, and our eco-tourism economy.
• Democratic Bypass: Bypassing the local Mid Murray Council via the Crown Assessment pathway strips regional communities of our democratic veto power and right to self-determination.
