Stop the Tuckahoe Creek Boardwalk Expansion — Protect Our Homes and Creek

Stop the Tuckahoe Creek Boardwalk Expansion — Protect Our Homes and Creek
The Issue
Henrico County is proposing a 2-mile elevated boardwalk through the wetlands and floodplain along Tuckahoe Creek — less than 100 feet from our backyards.
This project:
- Threatens to worsen flooding in FEMA Zone AE
- Was planned without required permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or Virginia DEQ
- Will destroy wildlife habitat and disrupt a sensitive ecosystem
- Intrudes on our privacy and property rights
We, the undersigned residents and supporters, urge Henrico County to immediately pause the Tuckahoe Creek Park boardwalk project until:
- A full environmental and floodplain impact study is completed
- Proper federal and state permits are obtained
- Public input from affected residents is transparently included in future planning.
This is not just about recreation — it’s about protecting homes, families, and the natural landscape that makes our neighborhood special.
