Every day, our local rivers and waterways are becoming choked with plastic waste, household garbage, and unmanaged trash. What was once a source of life and pride for our community is now turning into a health hazard. Improper waste disposal not only creates foul odors and unsightly surroundings, but it also destroys aquatic ecosystems, breeds disease-carrying pests, and drastically increases the risk of local flooding.

While temporary volunteer efforts help, the pollution keeps returning because we lack consistent waste management systems, strict policy enforcement, and long-term environmental accountability. We cannot stand by and watch our waterways turn into open dumping grounds. Our community deserves clean water, safe surroundings, and a healthy future.

We urge local government leaders, municipal environmental officers, and community members to collaborate on sustainable solutions through monthly community-led river clean-ups, strict enforcement of waste management ordinances, and the installation of trash barriers and accessible waste bins along riverbanks.
