We are devastated at Maria Magda O’Keefe School 24 as we have learned of the news of Dr. Cotto’s transfer. While we understand that leadership decisions are complex and made with the broader needs of the district in mind, we feel compelled to share how deeply this change will impact our school community.

Dr. Cotto’s leadership has been truly exceptional. The culture of excellence within our building is not by chance, but the result of consistent vision, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring every student is seen, supported, and set up to thrive. Her ability to build meaningful connections with students, staff, and families has created a school environment rooted in trust, respect, and belonging.

Under Dr. Cotto’s guidance, our school has flourished. We have witnessed academic growth, increased student engagement, and a strong sense of pride that fills our hallways each day. Her presence has helped create stability and momentum that directly benefits both students and staff.

This proposed transfer raises real concerns about the disruption it may cause to the progress and positive culture we have worked so hard to build together. Many of us fear the impact this change could have on morale, continuity, and the strong relationships that are at the heart of our school’s success.

For these reasons, we respectfully ask that this decision be reconsidered. We believe strongly in the importance of consistent, effective leadership at Maria Magda O’Keefe School 24, and we feel that Dr. Cotto’s continued presence is vital to the ongoing success and well being of our students and community.
