Dear Clarkstown Community,
We suspect the proposed 220,000 square foot warehouse will likely get the Chairman’s approval on July 27, 2022 during the next Planning Board meeting, or soon thereafter. Clarkstown-Planning Board
Although we weren't able to stop the warehouse, residents in Clarkstown will be requesting that the company Lincoln Equity, the developer, engages a third party air quality emissions and noise pollution company to do base line testing, testing during construction and testing upon completion for at least one year of operations at the warehouse. This testing will show that the developer is in compliance with State guidelines and because it is third party, the real-time results will be available to the public, which can help to alleviate community concerns and would be in the best interests of the developer.
Residents are also requesting that all vehicles including construction machines and trucks be at least of Tier 4 quality or newer. The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) suggest this as it has had a huge impact on improving air quality. They also suggest that when the warehouse is in actual use, trucks coming in and out also be of Tier 4 or newer.
If air quality becomes worse, the company must mitigate by lowering amount of operational hours and numbers of trucks using the facility.
There is an air quality company that already does business with New York. www.aeroqual.com- air monitoring company
The public comments for the warehouse were closed on June 22nd; however, continued pressure from the Clarkstown Community can go a long way. At the Town Board meetings, for example, residents are encouraged to use their 3 minutes to speak, in person, about this issue.
We are asking you to write a letter reinforcing the need for a third-party monitoring company to evaluate the air quality and noise levels, in addition to using Tier 4 trucks or newer, for every phase of this project from construction to commercial use.
Please don't copy and paste the above message, as it may be disregarded. When you write the letter be sure to cc all our local officials because each office is a separate entity. There is strength in numbers!
