The Issue

Help Our Community Fight Property Thefts in Mount Hope (Flamborough–Glanbrook) We Need Our MP's Support to Keep Our Neighborhood Safe

Theft attempts are happening EVERY WEEK in Mount Hope. We're seeing attempted vehicle thefts, items stolen from inside cars, cash and belongings taken from vehicles, and even shoes and packages stolen from outside homes. What started as occasional break-ins has exploded into a full-blown crime wave that's terrorizing families and making us afraid in our own driveways and front steps.

This is Personal

I was recently the victim of an attempted vehicle theft here in Mount Hope. My police report is filed, but I'm not alone—neighbors throughout our area are reporting vehicle thefts, break-ins, items stolen from cars, and property taken from their doorsteps almost weekly. We're watching our community transform from a safe place to raise our families into a hunting ground for criminals.

The Problem is Escalating

  • Multiple types of theft occurring weekly: vehicle theft, break-ins, items stolen from cars, property taken from doorsteps
  • Criminals are becoming increasingly bold, operating without any fear and targeting homes directly
  • What begins with opportunistic theft often escalates to more serious break-and-enter crimes
  • Families are afraid to leave vehicles in driveways or packages on doorsteps
  • Children and elderly residents feel unsafe in their own neighborhood

Other Ontario Communities Have Found the Solution

Across Ontario, communities facing similar theft crises have successfully fought back through targeted police operations that resulted in:

  • Hundreds of arrests
  • Dozens of vehicles recovered
  • Crime rates dramatically reduced
  • Communities made safe again

These proven programs work—and we believe MP Dan Muys can help us access these resources for our community.

What We're Asking For

We respectfully request MP Dan Muys' support in advocating for:

  1. Immediate Enhanced Night Patrols - Work with local police to implement intensive nighttime patrols in affected areas to deter all types of theft, which can be scaled back once the problem is under control
  2. Enhanced Police Resources - Additional funding for anti-theft operations targeting vehicle, property, and residential theft in our area
  3. Proven Anti-Theft Programs - Help bring successful strategies from other Ontario communities to combat all forms of theft
  4. Provincial Support - Assistance accessing available anti-theft and community safety funding and programs
  5. Community Partnership - Working together to find solutions that keep our neighborhood safe from all criminal activity

Why We're Reaching Out

We greatly respect MP Dan Muys and his commitment to our community. As residents who have supported him over the years, we're turning to him for leadership during this difficult time. We believe in his ability to help connect our community with the resources and support we need.

Our children deserve to grow up in a safe neighborhood. Our seniors deserve to feel secure. Our families deserve better than living in fear.
