Firstly, thank you. 22,000 of you signed the Change.org petition to stop the cuts to Fisheries Officers and protect Victoria’s waterways and wildlife. That kind of support is powerful — and it shows just how much people care.
But here’s the problem:
The Victorian Government is refusing to acknowledge your voice.
They’ve said the Change.org petition doesn’t count — and unless you sign the official Parliament petition, they won’t act.
They originally told us that we only needed 2000 signatures to have this discussed in Victorian parliament which we achieved, only to turn around and tell us now we need 20,000 signatures.
That’s why we urgently need you to sign this new, official petition – it’s the only way to force a formal response in Parliament:
Sign the Parliament Petition
We know this is frustrating – you’ve already spoken up once, and now you’re being told it wasn’t enough. But we can’t let them ignore us. If we hit 20,000 official signatures, they’ll have no choice but to listen.
The cuts to Fisheries Officers mean a rise in illegal fishing, black-market trade, and unchecked environmental damage. It threatens our native wildlife — including vulnerable species like the platypus — and puts real pressure on local communities, tourism, and the integrity of Victoria’s seafood industry.
This isn’t just about jobs — it’s about protecting our natural heritage, our economy, and the future of our waterways for generations to come.
If you care about Victoria’s environment, please sign the official petition now and ask your friends/family to do the same.
Together, we’ll make sure they hear us – loud and clear.
Thanks again for standing up,
Sven
