Dear supporter

Thank you very much for taking the time to sign Helensburgh Community Council's petition 'Stop the Supermarket on Helensburgh's waterfront'.

We knew many Helensburgh residents were worried about new plans to build a supermarket on our beautiful waterfront, but are still surprised by the strength of community feeling against any supermarket development.

1000 people have signed the petition already.

We launched the petition two days ago at a packed Helensburgh Community Council meeting. Over 120 people came along to hear more about Argyll and Bute Council's intentions for our waterfront. Thank you to local councillors Fiona Howard, Paul Kennedy, and Dame Jackie Baillie MSP for joining us to hear our concerns.

There were many great ideas about how we build the campaign, pursue legal routes and challenge a supermarket development through the planning process.

You can find out more about Helensburgh Community Council here , including how to get in touch with us.

We are busy getting our website updated with next steps you can take for the campaign.

If you can do one thing to support us this weekend, please share the petition with all your friends, neighbours and family.

Thanks for your support,

Helensburgh Community Council
