You come to Crete for paradise.

 

But what you don’t expect… is this:
Sick animals. Injured. Starving.
Kittens. Puppies.
Born into a life of suffering.

Not hidden. Right in front of you.
On the streets. Right next to hotels. Restaurants. Beaches. 

Seen by millions of tourists like you every year.

 

Local rescuers and animal welfare organisations are doing everything they can.

 

We rescue.
We feed.
We neuter.
We pay.

But we are left alone.

Without continuous neutering, the cycle never stops.

More kittens.
More puppies.
More suffering.

Every day.

And tourists are noticing. Many leave heartbroken. Some choose not to return.

 

Greece has a legal framework in place (Law 4830/2021) for the management and protection of stray animals.

Municipalities are required to ensure:

– continuous neutering
– medical care
– identification and registration
– prevention of abandonment
– cooperation with animal welfare organisations

But without consistent implementation, these responsibilities remain on paper.

 
We demand institutional accountability.

Municipalities must:

✔ activate and use the funds already allocated
✔ implement continuous neutering programs
✔ work in cooperation with rescuers and organisations

This is mandatory. This is responsibility.

Wer nach Kreta reist, sieht mehr als nur das Paradies.

Doch was du nicht erwartest… ist das hier:
Kranke Tiere. Verletzt. Am Verhungern.
Kätzchen. Welpen.
Geboren in ein Leben voller Leid.

Nicht versteckt. Direkt vor dir.
Auf den Straßen. Direkt neben Hotels. Restaurants. Stränden.

Gesehen von Millionen Touristen – wie dir – jedes Jahr.

Lokale Tierschützer und Organisationen tun alles, was sie können.

Wir retten.
Wir füttern.
Wir kastrieren.
Wir bezahlen.

Und trotzdem stehen wir allein da.

Ohne kontinuierliche Kastrationen hört der Kreislauf niemals auf.

Mehr Kätzchen.
Mehr Welpen.
Mehr Leid.

Jeden einzelnen Tag.

Und die Touristen sehen es. Viele reisen mit gebrochenem Herzen ab. Einige kommen nie wieder.

Dabei gibt es in Griechenland ein klares Gesetz (Gesetz 4830/2021) zum Schutz und zur Versorgung von Straßentieren.

Die Gemeinden sind verpflichtet, sicherzustellen:

– kontinuierliche Kastrationen
– medizinische Versorgung
– Kennzeichnung und Registrierung
– Verhinderung von Aussetzungen
– Zusammenarbeit mit Tierschutzorganisationen

Doch ohne konsequente Umsetzung bleiben diese Verpflichtungen nur Worte auf Papier.

Wir fordern echte Verantwortungsübernahme.

Die Gemeinden müssen:

✔ die bereits bereitgestellten Gelder einsetzen
✔ kontinuierliche Kastrationsprogramme umsetzen
✔ eng mit Tierschützern und Organisationen zusammenarbeiten

Das ist keine Option.
Das ist Pflicht.

Wenn du jemals auf Kreta warst, hast du es gesehen.

Du hast die Kätzchen gesehen.
Du hast die Welpen gesehen.

Du hast das Leid gesehen, ob du wolltest oder nicht.
