I am writing on behalf of concerned Marin County residents witnessing a severe and ongoing outbreak of mange among our local coyote population. These animals are suffering prolonged, preventable deaths.

Safe and effective treatments already exist. Other regions have successfully implemented controlled programs using veterinary oversight and targeted delivery methods.

We are not asking for unregulated public intervention. We are formally requesting authorization of a pilot program that allows licensed professionals to administer treatment safely, monitor outcomes, and protect both wildlife and the public.

We urge immediate coordination between the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Marin County Board of Supervisors to approve and implement this pilot.

This is a humane, science-based solution—and the community is ready to support it.
