Over 2000 car trips occur each and every day on both Rocky Hill Road (RHR) and Clarks Road in the Point Shore area of Amesbury. The Traffic and Transportation Committee is evaluating a number of options for relief to potentially be implemented. In 2021, they include: 

1) Change RHR to a one-way North, from Main Street to Route 110. Vehicles traveling East on 110 toward Salisbury would no longer be able to take a right onto RHR to get down to Main Street.

In conjunction with that, 

2) Install a 3-way stop at Clarks Road and Main Street.

With the RHR change to a one-way, approximately 500-1500 more car trips will potentially funnel on to Clarks Road, causing major back-ups at the stop sign at Main and up the street toward 110. This will negatively impact residents, especially the homeowners on the two corners at the bottom of Clarks and on Main Street. Their quality of life will be impacted with noise and exhaust fumes right next to their homes, public safety vehicles will have problems getting through on Main and Clarks, and with a potential housing development on Clarks Road ranging from 56-200 units will add another 400+ cars trips a day on Clarks. This is a recipe for disaster for homeowners on Clarks and that area of Main Street.

PLEASE sign this petition in opposition the 3-way stop on Clarks Road! The attached is a picture of a current Friday night at 5:30 PM back-up on Clarks, which will only be exacerbated by the installation of a 3-way stop.
