It is now a month since we handed in this petition to 10 Downing Street, and the petition has continued to grow since that date. We included a letter on behalf of the signatories explaining why taxing the state pension would be both unfair and impractical.
I am sorry to say that neither the Prime Minister nor the Chancellor has deigned to reply, or even acknowledge, our letter on your behalf. This disdain for a petition of such size says a great deal about the priority being given to older people's concerns by this Government and has already led to some harsh publicity.
Don't worry, we will continue to hammer home our arguments about the growing numbers of older people being taxed on their state pensions, until the Government listens to reason.
