Tell Governor Kathy Hochul and the lawmakers in NYS as well as others that support and fund harness racing through racino, casino and tax benefits. Revenue that could be spent elsewhere that is far more deserving rather than an industry that cannot stand on its own, is corrupt, defrauds the public and is responsible for the abuse of tens of thousands of horses and their demise when tossed away after racing. Horses that are bred for profit and then sold off by the pound to be transported to Mexico and Canada for slaughter. Horses that are sent to become road horses, carriage horses and once they are wrung out for all they can offer then sent to kill pens. VERY FEW find a decent home after racing. And the governing bodies of the industry do nothing about it, as well as the state commissions who police it. It's time for the State of New York to reassess its position on funding and supporting an industry that is also being investigated and convicted by the FBI and federal government where dozens of participants have been found buying, selling and misbranding performance enhancing drugs that defraud the betting public, cause harm to horse and humans as well as lead to the death of large amounts of horses. Force the people allowing this to happen to STOP.
