Stop the state from euthanizing my dogs
The Issue
in August of 2026, I had been cleaning my parents house to surprise them, I had opened a door that had not been opened in over ten years to start cleaning it, when it shut it unfortunately did not latch all the way and my dog, who has never reacted this way before, ran out and bit a biker (who happened to be our neighbors who’s dog just bit and punctured ours a few weeks before). The biker was fine and I attended to him told him to call the police while I put my dogs away.
i was cooperative with the police and the police were grateful that they were licensed in the state of Michigan, up to date with vaccinations, has had NO previous history, and clearly cared for. I was crying for both the victim and mad crying at myself for not setting up my dogs for success.
thankfully the biker had no serious wounds and was okay. the dogs went through an in home quarantine of 10 days, where I continually got harassed and assaulted by the neighbors. They were threatening to shoot me, then threatening to shoot my dogs, shooting off guns where I was terrified and even calling my friends for advice. I did eventually call the police after one of them stalked me, jumped out from behind the tree, leaned over their fence and threatened to shoot me again. During this whole time I was trying to give them as much privacy as possible so they did not have to see the dogs but that did not stop them from wanting me gone. The police had to tell them I couldn’t go anywhere because the dogs were in an in home quarantine.
I’ve had my dogs for four years and they have been on this property their whole lives, the neighbors are only there 5% of the time for vacation in the summer. It’s their 2.5 million dollar house next to my parents old my 1954 house. My dogs have never bothered them, or even barked at them. They are trained off leash and I started training on them right when I rescued both of them. They know strict military commands and how to heel off leash. We go on walks in public all the time and my dogs are always around other people, even my mom who has early onset Alzheimer’s. They are extremely patient and loving with her.
The matter gets ten times worse, my attorney told me that they told the police that they have been chased and threatened by them for years… what? This was all news to me and I was baffled. My dogs are never outside without me and are supervised 100% of the time. I go with them for potty I am outside when they’re playing. I’ve never let them behave in any kind of way and I would never have. I was completely speechless.
THE STATE BELIEVED THEM DESPITE NOT HAVING ANY PROOF OR EVIDENDE AND AGREED THAT THEY SHOULD BE DESTROYED ON OCTOBER 28TH!
my dogs are my life, both of them are rescues, thrown out and terribly abused. they are my children, I failed them as a dog mom and if anyone should be punished it should be me, and not my dogs!
